The equilibrium constant (K) is a temperature-dependent quantity that relates the equilibrium concentrations (Kc) or partial pressures (Kp) of the products and reactants of a reaction, each raised to its stoichiometric coefficient. Its value indicates how far a reaction proceeds towards products: a large K means products are favoured. K depends only on temperature, not on the initial amounts.
