A volumetric flask is a flask with a narrow, calibrated neck marked with a single line; when filled to that mark it contains a precisely defined volume at a stated temperature. It is used to prepare standard solutions and to make accurate dilutions. Its single calibration mark makes it more accurate for one fixed volume than graduated glassware.
