Volumetric analysis (titrimetry) is a method of quantitative analysis in which a solution of unknown concentration is reacted with a standard solution until the reaction is stoichiometrically complete. The volume of standard solution needed is measured, and from it the unknown concentration is calculated using the reaction stoichiometry. Titration is the practical procedure by which volumetric analysis is carried out.
