Steady-state kinetics is a condition in a chemical reaction where the rate of formation of a reactive intermediate is equal to its rate of consumption. This means that the concentration of the intermediate remains constant over time. In polymerization, steady-state kinetics often applies to the concentration of growing chains in chain-growth polymerization. This assumption simplifies the kinetic equations and allows for easier analysis of the polymerization process.
